I’ve been thinking about creating a new layout for Tyler Ingram dot Com and it seems that I have come up with something that I like over the previous incarnation of my blog. Even though I thought it would have been fun to release a new design for my blog on January 1st, it was just not feasible with some of the other new things that have been happening in my life. Of course that did not stop me from doing it anyway at a later time.
As you can see this new layout is a bit different than my previous layout. I wanted to brighten up the colours a bit which I hope makes the site a bit more inviting to visitor as well as being easier on their eyes. I’ve swapped the content around with the navigation column but keeping the 2-Column layout that I seem to enjoy having. I increase the width of the navigation (right) column which allows for more advertising space as well as more information to be displayed.
I originally was going to go with a blue colour scheme, but according to my older sister, all of my sites seem to be blue. I looked to my favorite colour (green) and tried to pick colours off of the header that were similar.
Advertising:
I have added some more advertising space. I’ve allowed for side-by-side 125×125 Premium Button ads that show up above the fold of the site as well as are universal across the site for optimum traffic exposure. I have also allowed for a 468×60 banner add above the header image, again it is universal across the site. For a bit more information visit my Advertise page for more information.
I personally like the new design, I might be a little iffy on the colours but those are easily changeable via the CSS files. Don’t you just like dynamic websites? Changes happen across the entire site as opposed to having to edit multiple files (which could be hundreds).
What do you think of my new layout? I love feedback, both good and bad. I can’t get better if I don’t know what to improve upon right?
Looks great buddy! Only bug on the site I’ve seen is the search box is below the search box instead of next to it where I assume it should be?
Yeah, Nicholas is right: the search box (but more probably, all the menu) should stay some pixels on the top.

Oh, which browser are you using? I’ve looked at it on Firefox, IE 6 and IE 7 and Opera and I can see the Search button beside the search box.
Works ok for me in FF. Nice choice, very clean and spacious.
I think the site looks pretty sweet. And that search bar was working fine the first time I looked at the page, but now the button is beneath the search box ( Firefox 2.0 on Linux ). All in all though, the layout is very nice and slick.
Using IE 5 on windows 2000, i’m not getting that great of results…
On the home page, the side bar will not load, just a grey bar…
On the comments, the text is over the line on the left that should be seperating image and text. I will grab a screen shot for you and send it later…
I’ll look at moving the search bar/button to another place. If anyone has a screen shot of this weird issue I’d be grateful to take a peek.

Thanks for the screen shot though, the margin is a bit messed up it seems. Which is weird because I have IE6 on this machine. I’ll look again though.
