2010 Winter Olympic Plate Makes My Car Look Pimp

Writen By Tyler Ingram on May 29, 2007

Since Vancouver won the Bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics they came out with license plates to show off your love of the Winter Olympics.  I picked mine up today as I had to renew my insurance before midnight tomorrow though there is a first time fee of $35 and a yearly renewal fee of $25 but I think it is pretty cool to have a set of these plates

Now as you can see the slogan is: “The Best Place On Earth” and how can you not agree? The city of Vancouver was voted as the 3rd best place to live in the world so I think the slogan works. If you’re curious as to the mountain range as the backdrop on the plates it is Mount Garibaldi, which can be seen on the way to Whistler ( on Highway 99,  13km north of Squamish).

Now they say that people are to return the plates after 2012 but I think I’ll try and keep mine and just buy new plates to replace the Olympic ones I have. I lost them, or they broke I think should be a good enough excuse ;)

So any other British Columbians out there who have Olympic Plates on their cars?  Is there anyone else out there that has Winter Olympic plates for their vehicles from other countries?

  • I like ‘em. It’s about time that ICBC started to offer different plates from the same ones we’ve had for twenty years. Although I wonder about driving with these plates in certain parts of downtown where the games aren’t such a hit.

  • Well I guess I’ll see if I come out to my car one day to find my plates (or car) missing!

  • I agree, I’d be afraid to park around downtown where some Anti-Poverty Coalition punks decide to trash my car for supporting the Olympics.
