Finding an LCD Monitor: Samsung 941bw

Written By Tyler Ingram on Jan 01, 2007

Well I took back the Optiquest Q191wb monitor to London Drugs tonight and they were understanding about why I could not keep it. To tell me if had DVI input, which it doesn’t, was the first strike.  Then to find out how it acted weird with my WinXP Pro 64bit machine even with the latest drives was the 2nd strike, and actually that was enough to give it a 3rd strike right over home plate as well.

So after returning the monitor to LD and jumped over to Futureshop only to find their stock almost completely depleated still from the Boxing Week Sale they had going on.  After wandering around looking for a sales associate to bug I managed to find someone.  I asked I was looking for a 19" LCD to replace the one I just returned.  He tried to sell me on Acer.  I know Acer isn’t all that bad, but I don’t personally like them.

I did manage to spot a Samsung SyncMaster 941BW laying next to a pole.  I inquired about it and it seems to be pretty decent for the amount of money I was willing to spend.  The Samsung 941BW is a 16:10 ratio Widescreen 19 inch LCD monitor with a 4 ms response time and supports VGA and DVI inputs.

When I got the monitor home to my surprize I noticed that Samsung included the DVI cable. Bonus because I seemed to have placed my space DVI cable in a hidding spot that I cannot find.

WoW: Gnomish Power!

Anyway I am so far quite happy with my little find. The monitor is beautiful with its ultra thin bezel, great colour and its clarity, I definately will not be sending this monitor back.

So if you’re looking to pick up a 19 inch Widescreen LCD monitor and this fits your budget I definately do recommend it.  I seem to like Samsungs quality as I also use two 17 inch LCD monitors at work that are Samsungs and their quality matches that of this monitor.

The monitor was $249 and I luckily had a gift certiciate for $100 so that helped me pay for it.

I am a huge fan of Samsun Monitors. I have sold many to clietns and own a Samsung 930. I love the 940 941 bx and bxw screens. I think they have the highest quality and best picture of any monitor for the price. Check Newegg too, the user reviews are pretty much stellar across the board.
