I had a couple of people ask me about Full-Text Searches for various other websites I have developed and I thought it would be a good time to try out and see what I could come up with. Luckily for me I did not have to go far and PHPFreaks.com offered a very good, easy to follow tutorial on using MySQL’s Full-Text Search capabilities: PHP Help – MySQL Full-Text Searching with PHP
Now this is a fairly simple search and it offers two modes: Normal and Binary. I think Binary is an interesting option because you can weight words heavier than others or put more emphases on them so they are scored higher.
Now I won’t go over the entire code but the link directly to the tutorial is really helpful and I would be just copying it anyway. There is no fun in that now is there? Though if you have any questions about the Full-Text search I will definitely try and answer them.
Hopefully some people find the new search feature useful. The larger this site grows, the more information and posts that are added, the better the search will come in handy.

Thank you. I liked your site. You can also have a look at mine
