Atkinson Lighthouse, West Vancouver

Written By Tyler Ingram on Jan 14, 2010

Perhaps I’ll make this sort of post a more common theme here at Tyler Ingram dot Com. I can showcase a single photo and hope people might help me criticism it via the Comment area below. Perhaps I will look at making a Flickr Photo Group where I can take 1 photo per week that other people submit, display them here and people can do creative criticism on it as well. After all how is a photographer supposed to get better if no tells them how they are doing, if they like it or don’t like it?

Atkinson Lighthouse, West Vancouver

Atkinson Lighthouse

Taking during a rainy day in Vancouver while Robyn and I were walking around Lighthouse Park.

Process:

  • 3-Bracketed Exposures hand-held and tone-mapped in Photomatix.
  • Cropped, Aligned and Desaturated in Adobe Lightroom.

Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts about the above photo. Do you like it? Do you hate it? What would you do differently etc.

Great shot in my opinion. How were you able to get the same shot having only taken 3 exposures handheld? Are they quick taken quickly one after each other?

  • The camera is set to Burst Mode and I steady myself. Photomatix can also help align misaligned images by either horizontal/vertical shifts or by features.

Feeling HD man! Loving this one though – definitely ‘on the wall’ worthy!

You’ll have to show me “Burst Mode” on our next Photowalk.

I have this weird obsession with lighthouses and I feel that this photograph is beautiful.I really enjoy reading your posts.

It looks great. It would be even better if you took out the antennas though. They are a bit distracting.
