BCIT CST Week 3

Written By Tyler Ingram on Sep 25, 2010

Since I am fairly busy with getting used to my CST program at BCIT, I thought I could perhaps do little recap posts about my week at school. Who knows, perhaps someone will find the random information I write about useful to them one day.

It’s been a pretty busy week. We’re slowly getting various assignments assigned to us and I’m working on them as time permits. I recently bought myself an academic planner which helps me organize what is due and when so I can better prioritize what I have to do. One of the more important messages our instructors love to drill into our heads is DON’T FALL BEHIND. Reminds me, I need to read up on the Role of Government for my BUSA class, as well as the next Chapter in my Programming Methods text book.

On a side note, I did manage to get out for a little bit today (Saturday) to go on a little walk around the neighbourhood. There wasn’t too much to look or photograph, but it has been a while since I went outside to do non-school stuff.

Second Beach Seawall Construction

The seawall around Second Beach here in Vancouver is getting upgraded. I do believe they have made it easier to access the sand/shoreline when the tide is low too with some wider, less steep staircases. Though they (City of Vancouver) has placed various detours around the seawall to divert people. I can’t wait to see what the seawall will look like when the upgrades are complete. They are also upgrading a section of seawall from the Inukshuk to Sunset Beach as well.  I’m sure they will upgrade other sections over time as well.

Young Great Blue Heron

A younger Great Blue Heron was sitting next to the water at Lost Lagoon. It’s amazing how close you can get to the younger birds as they don’t seem to fear humans as much as their adult counter parts do. This guy let me get within 5 feet of him as he watched the small little fish near his feet. He did manage to grab one for a snack, but I wasn’t really waiting to capture that with my camera.

Let’s hope I can still have some time during my busy school week to get out and take photos though.

As for school, it will only get busier and I am looking forward to it!
