Well another month has come and gone in 2009 and normally that means I like to write about my stats of the previous month here at Tyler Ingram dot Com. January has been a pretty busy month for me due to finishing up my move, getting in as much snowboarding time as Robyn and I can and various other activities. Though what I like seeing is the trend of my traffic going up and up consecutively each month, after all without a readership I would pretty much be just talking to the infinite abyss of the Internet right?
How many people out there have more than one site they author or co-author? Anyway, on to the statistic portion of this post. I have always been one for stats!
January 2009 Blog Stats
- Visits: 7,261 (+3.20%)
- Pageviews: 10,165 (+13.68%)
- Pages/Visit: 1.40 (+10.15%)
- Average RSS Subscribers: 73 per day
I love seeing my Visits, Pageviews and even Pages/Visit go up each month. To me it means my blog is reaching out further and further. I am even excited to go over the 10k Pageview milestone, well at least I think it’s a pretty cool milestone to reach. Seeing my Pages/Visit increase is nice, it means that people are reading more than just 1 blog post at a time when they come to visit. The goal it trying to get visitors to read more than one post.
I also like seeing my average RSS Subscriber number going up as well, it did peak a bunch of times above 80 which is nice to see. Some ‘bigtime’ bloggers mention not to show your RSS subscriber numbers until you’re above 100 as it might scare people away from subscribing. Though with a service such as Twitter, I find that with having close to 500 followers I tend to lean more towards that as a larger source of getting my blog read. I am thankful for those who do subscribe to my RSS Feed, and look forward to any new people who subscribe.
Some people are interested on what sort of money a blog makes so I’ll share my small amount for the January 2009 period. Ok, don’t get jealous I made an exciting amount of $10.18 with Google AdSense! Woo, isn’t that a really large number? Oh well if I get 10 months with hitting that mark I’ll get another Google AdSense cheque in the mail! Ok so I am not one to really look at generating extra revenue on my site or any of my sites really, but it is nice to see I get a little bit of money each month. Could I place my ads in better locations? Perhaps, but I’m happy with the layout of my blog. Though if you think you can help my AdSense earn more but suggesting better locations of ads, I’m all ears.
As I have said before I am nearing the 500 follower mark for Twitter. I like that number and seeing my following grow is a pretty cool thing to see too. According to sites such as twitter.grader.com (score of 98.5) I am part of the Vancouver Elite, though not yet part of the Top50, but perhaps one day though.
Launch of a New Website: DynamicShark Media
Ok I might have hinted about a site I have been working on, though I would like to report I have finally decided to make the push and launch it.
Welcome DynamicShark Media.
DynamicShark has been something I have wanted to launch for quite some time now and I am a bit nervous to do it. I have gone through at least 4 different layouts and styles to the website but have settled on the current one (pictured above). Yes for those who are curious it is not a WordPress site, it is coded by hand by me and I tried to ensure it is XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant too.
What Is DynamicShark Media?
Well as many of you know I have always enjoyed web programming/development. I thought to enter the world of Freelance I would start my own little Internet identity that would allow me to take on web design and development projects. Earning some extra income is a good thing too. With over 4 years of professional experience with PHP and MySQL (as well as other languages) I thought I could take my love for WordPress as a blogging environment and offer my services.
I will specialize in helping people make the move from a share-hosting service such as WordPress.com or Blogpost.com to their very own self-hosted WordPress site. Registering a Domain name of your very own, ensuring your content (posts, authors, comment, etc) is moved over without any loss. Getting you up and running with a theme as well as some basic plugins (add-ons) too.
DynamicShark Media also has services available for regular website design and development too.
DynamicShark has been a dream and goal of mine for quite some time. To become a freelance designer/developer for what I love doing is a dream that is becoming a reality!
Also, stay tuned for an upcoming contest I will be running here on Tyler Ingram dot Com which involves DynamicShark Media!

Yes congrats on the rise in readership. One day I will get up there. I just have to create more content first

Congrats! Sorry, I didn’t get to meet you @ WCW09!
Only one question, significance of the name “dynamic shark?”

Tyler Ingram February 2nd, 2009 at 11:29:53[Link]
@Sam Hi! – I’ve always had a fascination with Sharks. Dynamic because of the dynamic nature of websites and the web. Content is ever changing and so websites need to be dynamic. I can create systems for easily updating content to suite the needs etc.

Great news on the amount of visitors. I had over 9000 visits last month but only managed about $3 in adsense revenue.
Keep up the good work. I have just added this blog to my favourites
