Blog Stats for October 2008

Written By Tyler Ingram on Nov 03, 2008

The end of the year is approaching and another month is complete. Though what does it mean for blogging when a new month begins? Blog statistics! That’s right, its when a bunch of blogs around the blogosphere post their previous months statistics and talk about various highlights they might have had or goals they have reached. Yes, people do find other people’s blog statistics fairly interesting, I do anyway.

Blog Stats for October 2008

As with previous months I do see a small increase in readership which to me is always a good thing. Sure I don’t get insane amounts of traffic but I do have a sturdy base of readers and visitors and people coming back.

  • Visits: 5, 550 (+9.58%)
  • Pageviews: 7,169 (+3.91%)
  • Posts for October: 13 (+18%)
  • Twitter Followers: 259 (+30%)
  • RSS Subscribers: ~72 (+7.4%)

Overall things keep going up like in previous months. It is nice to see my Twitter followers increase which also allows for a larger circle of people I can ask questions to or notify about new blog posts or various other happenings around the Internet.

Now my posts for October isn’t a killer number and I did mention in my previous overview for September that I would try and post as much as I could though with school, personal life, and other variables it made it difficult to post. This site also not being a niche-type site does make it a bit trickier to come up with ideas to write posts that people will find interesting. Though I will not give up!

Earnings for October

Earnings for October is nothing spectacular or impressive but still allow me to not have to pay for my hosting fees. So really the only expense that my site has is the time I put into maintaining it. Who knows perhaps with the upcoming winter season that might change!

  • Google AdSense: $8.68 (-17%)
  • Private Ads: $15.00

As you can see I really do not make much money from advertising here on my blog site. It pays for my hosting which is totally okay with me. I really don’t seem to put much effort into increasing that amount though I have been busy trying to get other things launched and completed. Perhaps this month I can look at trying to increase my revenue here.

I did remove TNX.net as an advertising network from my site as I did not see much of a income stream from it. In fact I have been waiting 2 weeks so far for my PayPal deposit for the advertising I did have on my site through them. I wonder if I will see that $10. I might have seen a higher amount but it looks as if Google still has my site penalized for something. Which is a bit odd because according to Google’s Webmaster Tools I still have low and medium page ranks for my pages and I still get a lot of my traffic from Google searches.

Thoughts

October was a fairly busy month, I was going to school three times a week and work was being shuffled a bit. I find that Twitter has been an excellent source of traffic as well as new online friends. Learning Illustrator has also allowed me to be more creative and I look forward to learning more with online tutorials and such. Also learning to use Illustrator to create web layouts I find is more practical than using Photoshop.

I have also combined my RSS feeds between here and my photoblog. This allows you to not only keep up-to-date with what is going on here on my blog but also to receive updates to my photography highlights so if you have not already done so, please subscribe to my RSS feed today!

November will be even busier I think with the upcoming snow season, a new personal project Robyn and I are working on as well as I’ll be moving to the West End of Vancouver.

I plan on getting my desk all organized so I can take on some more freelance work to earn some extra cash and continue this fun blogging hobby I have. My desk will have a nice view of Cypress Mountain too!

I can’t wait for it to snow on our local mountains!
