Saturday the 3rd of October marked the second time I've attended a Barcamp here in Vancouver. What exactly is a Barcamp? Well it is an unconference. What is an unconference? From my observation there isn't really anything scheduled during the day and the first part of a Barcamp is for people to give a brief overview (within 30seconds) of what they would like to talk about and then their talk … Continue Reading »

Being an enthusiast of WordPress I try to attend as many WordPress orientated events that happen around Vancouver. This time around it is WordCamp Fraser Valley and scheduled to be held on August 22nd of this year. This I believe will be the second WordCamp to be held in the Fraser Valley and the second time I also will be attending it. Last year was the first time I actually … Continue Reading »

This post will serve two purposes today. The first is to write about out little adventure to Grey Rock in Deep Cove, the second to test out the lightbox portion of the Flickr Photo Album plugin for WordPress.
I've been using the Flickr Photo Album plugin for WordPress for quite some time now, but mainly to allow me to easily integrate my Flickr photos into blog posts. A feature I have … Continue Reading »

There are some local blogger meetups that happen on a regular basis here in Vancouver. One of which is called ThirdTuesday.
ThirdTuesday normally happens on the third Tuesday of every month, though sometimes it can happen on other days of the week. It is a free meetup of Vancouver's communications and marketing sector who are interested in social media. Typically there is a guest speaker who will talk about a particular … Continue Reading »

I've been using Facebook for a while and I have seen them change the user interface (UI) numerous times. People hate it or they like it, but for me, the most recent change annoys me everyday and there seems to be no end. When Facebook changes something, we are all stuck with the change, no matter how many people complain about it, there seems to be no going back.
I was … Continue Reading »

Some people might look at my post count for April and wonder what has happened. As I sit here and type this out I look back during April and noticed I have only posted 2 things! That really isn't much, especially when my goal would be at least once a day. Obviously that goal is a bit harder than I would have expected it to be. How many people out … Continue Reading »

Now I've never considered myself an expert blogger, or now how to magically put your newly published blog post on the front page of Digg. Though I have been looking at the various mechanics of blogging and the numbers in the background. What I have been more interested in recently has to do with daily visitors and the time of day they tend to visit my sites.
I have been thinking … Continue Reading »

If you're running a self-hosted WordPress blog and notice you have multiple updates available for your installed plugins, have you ever wondered how it was done? Have you ever wondered if it was safe to allow for the Automatic Upgrade of your plugins? Well, I recently looked through my WordPress plugins that needed to be updated and was a bit hesitant to try it out. Though I bite the bullet … Continue Reading »

One of the most popular ways to stay up to date with your favorite website is by subscribing to an RSS Feed for that particular website. New content that is published by your favorite websites can "delivered" to you by the means of an RSS feed. You subscribe to these RSS feeds via a news aggregator, one which I highly recommend would be Google Reader.
Previously I have been playing around … Continue Reading »
