If you've seen me out and about with my camera in the Vancouver area, chances are you've seen what I typically use on my photowalks; the Lowepro Topload Zoom AW.
When I first started looking for an easy to use bag that would fit my camera and largest lens (while attached) but not hamper me on my travels, I had looked at many different styles. I found that styles tend to … Continue Reading »

The morning was not bad in regards to the weather. There were some pretty decent sunny moments, but closer to the afternoon the clouds rolled in and it is currently trying to drizzle on us. Though the morning walk around Lost Lagoon and parts of Stanley Park didn't fare to bad in regards to some photos. Let's take a look!
When we eventually hit Brockton Point there was this little bird … Continue Reading »

Robyn and I headed up to Whistler/Blackcomb today and boy was it a lot of fun. The conditions were most excellent, with bluebird skies, some trace of new snow and awesome sunshine all day.
By now most people know that Whistler/Blackcomb is home to many of the Alpine events for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Which is quite evident when driving up into Whistler itself. Various Olympic graphics are being put … Continue Reading »

With the rain covering our city, I thought it might be fun to play around with my Poor Man's Macro setup. Technically my macro setup consists of my kit lens (EF 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS) and a broken EF 50mm f1.8 that has been reversed mounted onto the threads of the kit lens. The only downside of this is the extremely shallow DoF (Depth of Field) to play with. I guess … Continue Reading »

A lot of you who know me, know how I do enjoy going out to Lost Lagoon and taking photos of birds. Well, it doesn't have to be Lost Lagoon I suppose just birds anywhere in general, the bigger the better! I like to stand (or sit) and watch what they do, from swimming around, interacting with other birds, landing, taking off and flying. It's relaxing I suppose, and typically … Continue Reading »

Before the rains start again here in Vancouver I wanted to quickly get outside with my new Canon 7D. I wandered around the streets of Vancouver for a little bit and took a few shots before heading back home. The clouds slowly began to get darker and darker and now it's finally raining. Which is good because our local North Shore Mountains are hopefully receiving some much needed snow!
That's the … Continue Reading »

One thing that has been bugging me is my camera body, Canon EOS 450D aka Digital Rebel XSi. A while back ago I managed to sort of break my Canon XSi when a small mishap occurred, the camera fell over (while on a tripod) and jammed the EF 50mm f1.8 I had on it. Ever since then, one of the connectivity pins inside the camera (mainly the one that talks … Continue Reading »

The sun is finally out shining among us Vancouverites and I managed to get out early enough to enjoy some of it. I suppose I could go back outside but after walking around Vancouver for 4 hours, my feet are a bit sore. I'm sure there are more great photos out there to be taken, but I must rest my feet.
Today's walk was a fun little journey. I headed towards … Continue Reading »

The most recent photowalk that the No Compacts Allowed! Facebook group went on was to Chinatown in the evening this past Sunday. The plan was to meet up at the Millenium Gate on Pender next to Tinsletown and then wander around. We didn't have much of an itinerary but it was fun nonetheless.
The turn out wasn't bad considering the heavy dark clouds hang over Vancouver and threatened to rain but … Continue Reading »

The weather is not being cheeky here in Vancouver and this morning there was a pretty decent sunrise. Granted I am sure it would have been more fun to head outside with my camera to like Coal Harbour than to open one of our windows and stick the camera outside. Oh well, not enough time to get dressed, geared up and head out so I took this photo from one … Continue Reading »
