Even though the Celebration of Lights was last night, I was one Vancouverite (can I still call myself one?) that did not want to go see them. Instead, I headed straight to VanDusen Gardens after work as I waited for Robyn to finish her shift.
I brought a nice little dinner with me and sat on a bench underneath a weeping willow tree. Pretty relaxing actually. After I was done with … Continue Reading »

Yesterday, when I woke up and shuffled into the living room I was presented with a brilliant pink sky. What did I do? Grabbed my camera of course and went out to the patio!
I took 3 hand-held exposures of the pink sky as it quickly started to fade and processed them through Photomatix. I love HDR photography because it helps recreate scenery that our eyes capture, but our cameras cannot.
What … Continue Reading »

If you're ever in White Rock walking along the Promenade then you probably have seen one of many trains go by. Daily, trains make the trek from Washington State through White Rock to the Coal terminal in Tsawwasan. Though while walking the Promenade I can't help shake my head when people find it funny to make a late mad-dash across the tracks as a train makes its way through. Glad … Continue Reading »

Ok, so it's not really the Shuttle Tydirium, but it reminded me of it. Just leaving the SW Marine Drive Canadaline station heading towards Richmond's Bridgeport station.
Even though I gripe about @Translink from time to time, I am appreciative of the fact that to get to and from work I only have to take 1 bus and 1 train. In a couple more months, I will be going back to … Continue Reading »

Yesturday I wandered around Coal Harbour area with my camera and didn't really take many photos. Now, is it because I walk around Coal Harbour too much and I have photographed everything, or is it things are just not as interesting to me in the city? Who knows.
This little guy was hanging out with his mother at the little pond on the north side of Georgia Street. Out of all … Continue Reading »

We're back from our little weekend get away up in Whistler for a wedding. Since I didn't take any photos at the wedding (didn't feel like bringing my camera) we did manage to get out to Alta Lake for a little bit.
These two dogs (they look like twins eh?) were being taught by their owner to jump in after their balls. They were quite reluctant to get into the water … Continue Reading »

Well the weather has been pretty good lately here and the above photo is proof of that. The other neat thing about the beaches of White Rock (or is it Whiterock?) is that when the tide goes out, it goes out quite far! I also love how it's real sand, not that industrial sand that the other downtown water locations have. You shouldn't come home dirty from a beach! Anyway...
Reno's … Continue Reading »

I finally got the chance to sneak out the other day with my camera after work when the weather was alright. I wandered around Vancouver looking at that various boarded up windows from the aftermath of the stupid Vancouver Riot. People assume it was because of the Canucks losing game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, but it wasn't. It was a small group of individuals who wanted to cause … Continue Reading »

Last night Robyn and I took a walk to the Whiterock Pier. What some of you might not know, is that we moved from the WestEnd to Whiterock last week. The place we've got is actually being renovated and we are getting very close to having it finished. Which means we can finish our move. Right now all of our stuff sits in a room in boxes and whatknot. Not … Continue Reading »

One of the features of the iPhone 4 (or perhaps iOS 4?) is the ability to take HDR photos. Though with the iPhone, it takes 2 separate exposures as opposed to 3 or more like you would with an dSLR. It doesn't do a bad job, sometimes they turn out alright or at least decent. I do find that combining the iPhone HDR photos with the Clarity filter from the … Continue Reading »
