Hi - man am I on a roll tonight! I'm looking at creating a custom wordpress theme as well. I see a lot of great themes out there, but nothing that really says who I am. I found a couple of great tutorials - http://www.wpdesigner.com/2007/02/19/so-you-want-to-create-wordpress-themes-huh/ and excellent set of tutorials that teaches how to create your own wordpress themes. I'd like to re-do my site (www.oibo.org) and my new site (www.mohamedbhimji.com) into something more modern. I am working with a graphic artist for mohamedbhimji.com...

Of course the other way to create a custom theme is to reverse engineer on you like and customize it.

And WordPress is such a broad platform with many many plugins. I started messing with themes months back. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
