Two days from today will be one of more interesting days in the calendar year; Valentine’s Day. This can be good or bad depending on your current relationship status. You either hate it… or you muddle your way through it trying to appease your significant other.
If you want to check out the history of the Valentine’s Day you can check out Wikipedia’s explanation, what I want to see is how many people like or dislike the 14th of February.
If you are single this day, then you should be glad you don’t have to worry about trying to come up with some romantic way of expressing your feelings to your significant other. I am talking to the male demographic because it seems (in my experience) we have to do more of the work. On the other hand, you might be one of those bitter singles who detest people being overly affectionate and hide yourself in your home hoping the day goes past quickly. Perhaps you’re an individual that becomes depressed because there isn’t anyone significant in your life you get to share this day with?
If you’re not single, then what sort of plans do you have for your significant other? Maybe you have plans for a romantic dinner, a stroll along the beach under the moonlight, to even a more intimate evening that involves… *ahem* a bit of fun? No, I am not trying to steal other people’s ideas. I have my plans set for the day, it’s been a while since I had to do anything for Valentine’s Day, but I am looking forward to it. It will be a nice, relaxing evening.
On the retail side of things I noticed that even before Christmas Day, local retailers were selling Valentine’s Day gifts and to me it seems that each year that passes retail stores try to commercialize the holidays more and more. They get their holiday gifts out earlier and earlier, soon they will be sold all year round! Besides the Easter holiday, Valentine’s Day is busiest day to shop for when it comes to chocolate sales. Who doesn’t like chocolate right? I’m sure more intimate apparel shops (such as Frederick of Hollywood, Victoria’s Secret etc) also do quite well while the male populace try to find something lacy or see-through for their significant other. Granted this might be only in North America, I’m not sure how other countries might do it.
If you had a choice, what would you want for Valentine’s Day?

Well, seeing as my significant other is currently residing in Ontario ( but moving here soon ), I bought some flowers online and got them shipped directly to her.
If she was here though, there’d probably be dinner and possibly a walk on the Sea Wall involved. And flowers.

Oh that’s nice. Having flowers delivered. Seawall would be good too. My GF lives a block from the seawall so its nice and convenient.

My wife and I don’t really do anything for Valentine’s Day – maybe a dinner out but very rarely on the actual day. We don’t do gifts or cards either.
Rather than trying to go all out on Valentine’s Day, I’ve found it much more effective to do a few special things throughout the year as it is much more appreciated when it is random.

Yea I find that too. Random acts of love etc are more fun then having to run around and book a dinner or something when everyone else is doing it.
Buying flowers for ‘no particular reason’ is always good!

amazingly i fall under no category. I am not single, and i will not be celebrating valentines day. I’m not sure if thats good or bad… and its not my decision not to, since i like valentines day, oh well!

I guess just have a dinner and probably I’ll think for something that is romantic. But anyway, everyday is a Valentine’s day if we want to.

That’s what I think, I mean shouldn’t we make every day important and special? Why go crazy over one day? lol

Well for me, I’ll think for something that is memorable and special. But, unfortunately I don’t celebrate Valentine’s day.. lol..
