Well it seems that there is yet another contest over at ProBlogger (Reviews and Predictions) about and that the list of prizes seems be worth trying to write for. Now I must warn you I am definately not a great writer and I can only (hopefully) get better at it.
The special thing about this blog is that is has been entirely coded by me. There is no template system that I modified, there is no company for whom I paid lots of money to, to get rid of their copyright or disclaimer. This site is 100% me!
I wanted to get back into web design and learning more tricks and techniques when I started working for a company and creating their website. I self-taught myself PHP and MySQL and wanted to create something for myself that I could modify and maintain. After a few designs and ideas I thought about creating a blog type site where I could just talk about whatever I wanted to but still have the freedom of being able to change what ever I wanted whenever I wanted.
Now I have had some people ask me where did I get the scripting for the site and when I have told them that I coded it, they seem to want me to create similar sites for themselves. They are all surprized that I have coded this site from stratch. I love doing it. I do perfer more of the backend coding than the graphical styling but then again my graphic experience is not where I would like it to be. I hope to one day learn more of the graphic side so that I can put more flair into my designs!
As for the future of this site, I would like to get more into the Web Developing side of the industry. I have been reading all the information I can about Search Engine Optimization in the change of one day increasing my PageRank with the various search engines. The more I can design the more I can be confortable with taking on clients whom ask me to help with their sites or create their sites.
I also plan on creating small PHP and MySQL tutorials of the more common things that people seem to ask for on various sites such as PHPFreaks.com.
So there it is, a little bit of something and a bit of direction for where I would like to try and go in 2007. To create a more popular site with more valuable information for the masses and perhaps make some money on the way. To be one of those Dot Com Moguls would be a great accomplishment and definately worth the time, experience and whatever else I can put towards it.

Thanks!
I just recently added an archival type script now too. Though over the next little bit I might have to tweak it. Now hopefully my RSS Feed stays valid and readers are able to pick it up.

For my job I’ve had to learn some MySQL… blah… although, it’s not really that hard once you get the gist of how it works. I’ve most recently been learning DNN… It’s amazing what we learn.
I found you on the problogger reviews and predictions participant list and thought I’d say hi.
Cheers,

Hey cool,
Thanks for visiting. I agree once you learn the basics of MySQL it’s fairly straight-forward. Most of the queries that I tend to use similar queries.

You can give away this script and generate millions of backlink to your site….then the money will roll in.

Well a buddy of mine was asking me for my scripts. I would need to clean it up abit and make perhaps an installer script for it so that it is easy to use. Though there is only really a few things that would need to be changed if it were to go on another person’s website. Mainly the MySQL Authentications.
I would look into thinking of ways to skin it too. So we’ll see in the New Year as to where I want to try and take this script.
Thanks for the reply!
