I have a MySpace, with over 200 'friends' (most of them unknown to me) but it's more or less redundant. As a blogging platform it's useless as images have to be hosted elsewhere, and generally it's very fiddly to use, half the time the preview facilities don't work. Visiting other MySpace pages is usually a nightmare - endless embedded videos, often all starting at once, garish backgrounds and a general assault on all one's aesthetic sensibilities. Besides that, it's fine - not. :-)

I use MySpace to help promote my instrumental music.

http://myspace.com/taurusjames

Also, I have a profile for my band as well.

http://myspace.com/gospeljazz

I agree with most of what you post here. I have my own space as well at taurusjames.com. But since I'm sharing music with the world, any popular, no-cost outlet is great for exposure.

Of course, myspace is not "my life" as it is with some of the kids and wannabes on that site. It's a tool that I make work for me.

True, though some of them are pretty bad and make me cringe :) Then again this site isn't the best looking either and I hope its not hard on the eyes.

Though what's better? Nexopia, MySpace, or High5?

"<em>Besides I have my own space on the web</em>"
That is the reason why MySpace exists, it's for those who don't have their own sites - or have nothing tangible to write about on a real website.

I have myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/stephenfung

...and Windows Live Space...
http://futurelooks.spaces.live.com/

Live feels like an old man trying to be cool. MySpace definitely has that teenie bopper feel.

Hey, 90 million users can't be wrong. But it's really made for teenagers who are not overly concerned with ease of use issues. But would I use it? No. Like you, I have my own space.
And everyone gets one friend - Tom, the guy who started the whole thing. Jeez, I'd hate to see his friend list.
