Dot Com Pho Vancouver

Written By Tyler Ingram on Jul 13, 2008

Saturdays here in Metro Vancouver is a day when local bloggers and Dot Com’ers come together to eat Vietnamese Pho and talk about whatever a bunch of internet geeks talk about. Today’s Dot Com Pho welcomed back John Chow as he has been away in Nebraska causing trouble at the Top Affiliate Challenge. Also in attendance were Stephen Fung, Michael Kwan, Leo Chiang, Greg Morgan, Jeff, Bonnie Sainsbury and Ray.

This week’s Dot Com Pho took place at Pho Thai Hoa on Kingsway in Vancouver.

What did we talk about at this Dot Com Pho?

Well we talked about John’s evil plans in Nebraska and something about how Nebraska has lots of corn but no cow. There was talk about how Ed Lau is over in Japan and that he hasn’t been to a DotComPho in a while. There was some chat about the recently released Apple iPhone but that was quickly pushed to the side as more talk about Ed Lau came up. There was also talk about John will be giving away an Apple iPhone courtesy of Market Leverage that will not be branded, though I think Market Leverage should send me an Apple iPhone too.

The gadget of the week was the MSI Wind notebook as shown in the above photo. A sub-notebook with a 10” screen, 80 GB hard drive and bunch of other features that I think out does the Asus EeePC including a larger easier to use keyboard.

I enjoyed this Dot Com Pho including the Medium Rare Beef Pho which, to me, had more flavour over the first one I experienced at Pho Lan’s in Richmond. If you are in the Metro Vancouver area and looking to attend a Dot Com Pho I am sure they would not mind saving another seat, the more the better right? Next week’s Dot Com Pho location will mostly be announced on the upcoming Friday, so check your calendar to ensure you have Saturdays at about noon to come out and have some delicious Pho!

I am SO sorry I missed it!

  • It’s alright Raul, you’ll be at the WordPress Camp in the valley.

Pho Thai Hoa is truly amazing. Pho Lan doesn’t come close. Speaking of close, despite the fact that John “Thinks” we’re all coming back to Richmond, Dot Com Pho Vancouver is here to stay while we lay Pho Lan to rest for a while.

We’re going to scout out another cool location that can handle us next week. If you have any suggestions, please give me a tweet so we can put it on the list. Please keep in mind, it needs to be a place that is close to transit and major highways to continue with our quest to make Dot Com Pho even more accessible. It also needs to hold at least 10 – 15 rowdies ;)

It’s too bad you guys had to put up with John Chow

The food was better than Lan’s and the location was far more central. I’m all for keeping it in Vancouver.

  • I’m all for keeping Pho in Vancouver near local transit. If he wants more people to come out then he’ll have to sacrifice his 2 block commute! Besides I think I still have the furthest commute!

I think that honor still belongs to BlueFur. It’s a shame that Langley doesn’t have Scooter or Transit friendly routes.

No matter how much bitching and whining he does, John is a part of Pho. And when he stops acting like a child, I’m sure he’ll get over it.
