DotComPho Dim Sum Edition

Written By Tyler Ingram on Jul 07, 2008

This past Saturday was another edition of DotComPho but with a twist. Since John Chow and Ed Lau were not in the country we decided to take DotComPho to a new location so that it was more economically friendly for most of us, especially with today’s gas prices. We settled on changing up the style of food to Dim Sum and having the location in Vancouver at the Pink Pearl. I wonder if we can keep the DotComPho happening at locations not in Richmond now, I think it would also be easier access for other people to join in our DotComPho Saturdays as well.

In this edition of DotComPho, Dim Sum style in attendance were myself, Stephen Fung, Michael Kwan, Leo Chiang, Gary, Ray and of course the gadget of the week; Stephen’s Yamaha Scooter. Though like Stephen’s posting on the most recent DotComPho we chatted about the boringness of the Top Affiliate Challenge, how the Creative Vado couldn’t stand up to the Flip Mino (quite literally too) to me coming across a Nintendo DS game of Mario Kart in the Parking Lot and yes I do wear Lululemon clothing.

For my first experience at trying Dim Sum I quite enjoyed it. We had various types of food from spring rolls, to pork buns and various other sorts of yummy food and I am surprised they didn’t have me try any weird animal body part though I suppose I was also alright with that since I had plans for a Sunset Dinner Cruise later that night with Robyn.

Stephen also did the draw for his most recent contest and had Leo pick the two lucky winners chop-stick style. The winner of the unbranded Apple iPod Nano was Enkay Blog and the winner of the FlipFlap was Simon Lau; Congrats to those two lucky randomly drawn winners!

Now DotComPho wouldn’t be complete without some sort of video clip and after Stephen talked about the Gadget of the Week; his Yamaha scooter, I thought it would be fun to record him puttering away and down the street. Hopefully in the light rain and slick roads he was able to make it home without too much effort! Too bad I don’t weight 187lbs (the max weight for his particular model of scooter) else it could be fun to putter around downtown Vancouver on a scooter like his.

Where will be the next DotComPho? Who knows, hopefully not in Richmond as that is just a bit far to travel. I think we could get more people out to DotComPho if we located more centrally and around better transit spots. Perhaps we’ll do an Downtown DotComPho (dim sum again?) or one near Vancouver/Burnaby. If you’re interested in attending the next DotComPho follow us on twitter to find out more!
