Ok so since today is the first day in a really long time where it hasn’t poured down with rain I asked my mum if she would like to go out for a walk and take the camera for a test drive. She agreed and we headed up to the Alouette River in Pitt Meadows to walk the various lengths of dike that surround the sides of the river.
The weather wasn’t perfect, it was still fairly cloudy and the sun tried its best to sneak through, but we were glad it didn’t rain.
We managed to take 202 images today (which only filled up half of the 1GB CF card we had), but unfortunately I will be sharing only a small selection of them that were a bit interesting. Sure I have pictures of two Blue Herons chasing after each other, or the pair of Trumpeter Swans who decided to take off and circle us for a bit, but they just didn’t turn out due to the distance from us. The lens that comes with the Digital Rebel is 18mm-55mm so it’s not really a telephoto and getting close up to nature isn’t its strong point.

After the walk with my mum I wanted to head over to the Pitt Meadows Airport. The airport is a regional one and handles domestic flights with plane types like Cessnas and the occasional Learjet. Though my mum was busy but my brother was over for a visit so he wanted to come for a walk. Along the dike (Pitt Meadows has a large dike system in place) I noticed a hull of a boat that looks like it has been sitting a while. Nothing fancy but it kind of looked out of place.

After that short little walk we got home and I managed to take a picture of my mum’s dog in mid yawn. He looks scary huh?

Hopefully the weather will get better soon and I can push the camera to its limits and show off what it is capable of doing.

I love that boat hull picture. Why don’t we have anything like that around here?
hey these are really great photos. i see a bunch of people talking about canon cameras this week!
i have one too, maybe someday when I run out of stuff to post, i’ll put up my canon pix too
great choice.
Enjoy the camera. I have an xti and I LOVE IT!
Yeah, I have a Canon 350d too. It’s an excellent camera for the price.
I’m loving it, I took it out again today because it was sunny and somewhat clear. I’ll post some of the images tomorrow.
I’ll have to stop using it in point and shoot mode and go back to real photography
