I just finished watching a little documentary on Hummingbirds (thanks to Keith) and it reminded me to upload some of the photos of the hummingbirds that feed around the property we stayed at.

These photos were cropped fairly heavily and might be a bit noisy (grainy) but overall I like the poses. The male Rufous (top 2 photos) shows of his beautiful colours as the sun shines through the tree canopy. And then the female Rufous (3rd photo) sits on a wire fence watching me as I take photos of her.
Hummingbirds are fairly fascinating and here in BC we only have two varieties; the Rufous and the Anna’s. A few reasons why I think they are pretty cool to watch: they hover, their agility ability to change directions in-flight instantly, the males will dive-bomb if you are in their territory, and the colours which shimmer like scales in the sun.
