Googles Webmaster Tools Update

Writen By Tyler Ingram on Mar 19, 2007

Well it seems recently that the Webmaster Tools on Google’s website had a bit of an update lately and it seems to be a decent one.

Google now shows you Links to and from your site. That’s right you want to see what people are linking to? Just click on the hyperlink in the table and it will show you all the URLs that are linking to a particular page.

According to the following image I have 2623 external links to my site with the more popular one being my contact page. Though when I drill down on that item it explains why it is the most popular one, it is because it links to my old domain which doesn’t really exist anymore; www.tingram.ca

Google's Webmaster Tools

If you have a Google account and run a website, Google’s Webmaster Tools is a nice small service that keeps track of crawl statistics as well as a place where you can upload your sitemap. You have a sitemap right?

  • Hi,

Just wanted to let you know of a really neat tool that you can use with Google webmaster tools. You have to be using Firefox with the Greasemonkey extension installed. Once you have that you can install the script at this link: http://www.joostdevalk.nl/code/greasemonkey/gwt-external-links/
With that installed when you go to Google webmaster tools and look at all your backlinks or incoming links it will show you the Google pagerank of all those sites linking to you. I’ve found it very helpful!

  • Very helpful. Up until now, I was getting this info from MyBlogLog.

  • Jono Cono: I’ll definitely have to check out that extension, Thanks.

derrich: I like the MyBlogLog stats, though since I don’t have a pro account I can only see yesturday’s and previous’ stats.
