Happy New Year For 2008
Well I wish everyone a happy and great start to the New Year! Let’s see if I am able to keep the post frequency up a bit more than I did in the previous year. For those who are interested in statistics for people blogs this is what mine seem to reached in the year 2007.
- Number of Posts: 184
- Number of Comments: 695
- Total Visits: 10,644
- Pageviews: 20,659
- New Traffic: 70.33%

- Number 1 Referal Site: Stumbleupon.com
Now the statistics I would say don’t stack up to those of the larger blog sites like JohnChow.com or ProBlogger.net but I’m content with them since my post frequency is roughly 1 post every 2 days. I missed out on at least 181 posts or interesting information that I could share with my visitors.
I do hope to post more frequently even if I have to write the posts and save some for later time by putting future dates on them like other bloggers tend to do. This will take a slight modification to my blog’s script but that is easily done.
Revenue:
Now it seems a lot of people are curious about the amount of revenue a blog makes. Well mine definitely doesn’t make enough to quit my day job but perhaps this year I can think of ways to obtain a sweet dream like that right? Being able to sit pool side in a lounge chair with a laptop and write posts while getting a tan right?
Now on my site I have played with the various affiliate marketing sites that are available to bloggers and none of them have really proved to be very effective to me. But I also believe that this is because the traffic on my site is not at the point where advertising (especially click-through types) work effectively.
The main affiliate program I have been using is Google’s Adsense. In the year 2007 I have made $27.67 which is not very much at all.
- Total Revenue Earned: $27.67
- Total Impressions: 17,379
- Clicks: 150
Again these are not very impressive stats but the other programs I have tried (such as WidgetBucks, AuctionAds, TTZMedia, Kontera) have not made me a single penny or enough to even mention. This could be due to placement of the ads, but I still believe traffic is king when it comes to using these types of ads. The higher the traffic the site receives, the higher the ratio that people will click on an ad right?
My blog resolution for the year 2008 is to try and post more than the previous year, increase my traffic and RSS readership while still enjoy doing all of this.
As for personal resolution I made after midnight on the 1st of January. I want to get into better shape physically. I need to strengthen up my ankles from my previous injuries so that I can get back into jogging!
What sort of resolutions have you made this year? Personal and or blog wise?

Happy new year!
