Hayward Lake and Rolley Lake
The other day I felt like getting out into the sun and going for a little hike and taking the camera with me. So I did just that. I drove first to Hayward Lake, which is also one of BC Hydro’s reservoirs that is fed from Stave Lake. The water from Hayward runs through the Ruskin Dam/Power Station which produces power that is sold to California.
Hayward Lake also offers a hiking trail that can take up to 6 hours and goes around the entire lake. Another nice spot if you do manage to ever do the Hayward Lake Rail are some scenic areas like the old Railroad Bridge Ties that span over the water in some places, Ruskin Dam, the floating bridge as well as Steelhead falls.
These shots were taken near the Power House/Dam at in-between Hayward and Stave as well as near the main beach area.
Next was on to Rolley Lake. Now being that Rolley Lake is a Provincial park you do need to pay for parking and it can be up to $3 per day. Remember the money earned for parking goes towards the upkeep and upgrading of the park and its facilities since the Provincial Government has taken away a lot of their budgets. My family used to go to Rolley Lake frequently during the summer when us kids needed to cool off. There is a lake loop trail and some waterfalls but most people just and out at the beach area and play in the water.

Unfortunately the shots didn’t turn out as good as I thought they might because of the overcast sky but you should get an idea of some of the smaller lake areas the Lower Mainland of British Columbia has to offer.

I love the photos. You are very talented….you did this an move in all in the same week. You have been busy.
