I Like Change
I have wanted to change the look of my blog a little bit and finally today I decided to do it. Nothing too drastic but it also allowed me to work on cleaning up my code as well as my Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) so that doing updates in the future for the layout can changed throughout the site and I don’t need to edit as many files.
Other than the obvious changes such as the header (it is a picture of Canada Place and the Harbour Centre from Stanley Park) I moved the internal navigation links above the image and I also increased the width of my blog to 900 pixels instead of the previous 800 pixels. I noticed that resolution of the people visiting my site had the majority at 1024 x 768 which means my width still fits within their monitors if they are running their browsers at maximum. I get very little traffic that run resolutions at 800 x 600 and if you are one of those visitors I would suggest it is time to update your computer.
Increasing the overall width of the site has also allowed me to increase the width of the left side column and the main content. I did some other little fixes and tweaks in the back ground to my code that should hopefully make it even more efficient but most people won’t notice, in fact I don’t think it is noticeable but the code is cleaner to look at for me.
So what do you think of my changes? What would you change? Is there something that you liked previously that you think I should go back to? What would you like to see changed?
On a side note I noticed my Technorati rank jumped up to 48,000+ which is a lot higher from its normal 36,000 it has been sitting at for weeks. I should look at fixing that and possibly my posting infrequency is the main cause.

Looks good Tyler. Sometimes small changes make a huge difference. At least mixes things up a bit.
I think the changes look great. While not a major overhaul, I think it is enough to give it a nice, new look. I really like the header image.
Thanks for the comments. I’ve always wanted to use a picture of Vancouver somehow as the header but I couldn’t really find one that fit. This is the closest that I have in my photos. The construction is the new convention centre that is going in I believe for the Winter Olympics in 2010.
