Now I have tried a few MP3 players out there and I have had nothing that has come close to the feel and durability of the Apple iPod Nano. Granted they may not be entirely durable but the ease of use has not been matched by another MP3 player in my opinon.
Some of you might have remembered an older post of mine when I received a 4GB Apple iPod Nano (green, 2nd Generation) as a Christmas present but that was taken away from me. Being disgruntled about the loss I went out and purchased myself a replacement 2GB iPod Nano (silver, 2nd Generation) though that was lost somewhere in West Vancouver coming back from a camping trip in Tofino, British Columbia.
I have recently been using a Samsung YP-T10 MP3 player and its battery life was nowhere close to that of the 2nd Generation iPod Nanos let alone it had a quirky manner of turning itself off when in pause mode. The Samsung T10 would run out of battery power anywhere between 10-12 hours of use whereas the iPod Nanos went days before I needed to charge it.

Now this is the 3rd Apple iPod Nano I’ve owned, the 3rd Generation 4GB Silver model. I have been looking on various websites to replace my existing iPod Nano with a similar 2nd Generation one but they were either nonexistent or were too much compared to the newer generation. I decided to browse Apple’s website at their iPod Nanos and iTouchs and noticed that Apple offered Refurbished units at a discounted price. I talked to a local Apple Rep at our local Apple Store (Pacific Centre, Vancouver) and he mentioned that they generally get completely replaced (case, guts and all) and is something that Apple has been slowly introducing to the market.
On Apple’s website they were selling 4GB Silver iPod Nanos for $105 which included free shipping where a new unit is $149+. This was a lot cheaper than Futureshop, Bestbuy or even going through Craigslist or even eBay. I ended up purchasing my Nano on a Friday and received it today (the following Tuesday) which allows me to load it back up with music and carry on with my life.
So this is the 3rd Apple iPod Nano I have owned and Apple has definitely kept me as an iPod user. Now if they only offered Refurbished iPhones! If you are looking for an Apple product and you don’t want to pay the ridiculous price why not check out their refurbished items?

That’s the same one I got! I heart the refurbished section of the website. I stalk it occasionally even when I don’t need/can’t buy anything. ^_^ Eventually I plan to get a refurbished iMac, but that’s a ways down the road yet.
The ordering process (when I got my nano) is terribly painless and delivery is quick. I was quite impressed.

To my knowledge, they do offer refurbished iPhones… just not in Canada (because we don’t officially have it yet). Wait a few months after the July 11th launch of the iPhone 3G and refurbished ones should start popping up, I think.

So far I’m pretty happy with my 3rd Gen Nano. I have to look at adding video next I suppose.
@TheWeeJenny – It was painless, I used my already existing Apple Store account and it was shipped that day!
@Michael – it would be nice to see the 1st Gen iPhones though I won’t be able to afford even a refurb one if/when they offer it.
