No More Being A Faux WestEnder
Alright I am sure a lot of you know I will be moving in with Robyn at the end of this month. We take possession of the new apartment Dec 1st but hope to start moving her items before that. Not a hard move since we’re going up two floor in her current building which means less of a hassle of needing a moving truck and getting everything out the same day.
What this also means is that after today (Thursday, 27th 2008) I will not have computer and or Internet access until probably the following Tuesday (Dec 2nd 2008). I will have access to my iPhone so I will get emails, Twitter, texts etc but I won’t be actively checking on them either. I guess I will be disconnecting for the next few days.
I have a bunch of tasks I need to get done before December 1st and I need to focus on them to ensure less stress happens during them.
What do I mean about being a Faux WestEnder?
Well here in Vancouver one of the sections of the downtown area is called the West End. The West End is one of the older residential, laid back areas of the city and that is where I have been pretty much living the past little bit. I would say the West End encompasses everything west of Burrard Street but south of Georgia Street. I will now actually be a real resident of the area and need to get my various information changed to reflect my new address. People say that I might become a ‘West End snob’ whatever that means. I enjoy the area, the hustle and bustle, the shops and restaurants. I like how everything is within walking distance.
I come from the rural (or farm) areas of Pitt Meadows which is about a 50 minute drive to where my new place with Robyn will be. I have to drive everywhere to get anything, I dislike having to drive 5-10mins to get groceries where it will take 40+ minutes to walk. It will be fun living in the city. Due to everything being withing a few blocks of me it also means I don’t have to drive around to pick up things such as groceries, movies or whatever errands I might need to do. The only time I see myself driving really is when I need to go to the office in Pitt Meadows twice a week. Less driving means more money in my pocket, and better for the environment right?
We’re both excited about moving in and I am happy to start another new chapter in my life.
Anyway I have not totally disappeared, I will just be busy for the next few days getting moved, organizing and tying up some loose ends. I will be sure to post photos of our new place and whatever else we get into on the weekend when I free up some time.

Congrats Tyler! I lived down there for the better part of six years and absolutely love it! You’ll have so much fun.
Awesome! Should be great for you!
I’m looking forwards to being able to move out too, which should be fairly soon thanks to this new job.
No more two hour commute on the bus, no more waiting for a bus that was supposed to show up at 7:53 ( but gets there at 8:15 instead ), no more sitting around doing nothing on the weekends because it’s an hour-long drive to get to all the fun stuff downtown!
I’m pretty excited so after work today I’ll be cutting myself off from the confines of the Internet! lol
Congratulations on your move! That’s really exciting. I’m sure you will love the West End. I lived there for a couple years and really enjoyed it. The shopping, the traffic calmed streets… being close to everything!
And considering all the photos you love to take… I think it will be the perfect match for you two!
All I can say is, “Good eats.”
It’s all about the cheese ramen! http://flickr.com/photos/jeremylim/2929804141/in/set-72157607922456545/
@VancityAllie Thanks! So far the WestEnd has been great. Though once the weather clears up a bit I’ll have to venture outside with the camera.
@JeremyLim Oh that cheese ramen looks wickedly yummi!
