One Of BC’s Youngest Lottery Winners

Writen By Tyler Ingram on Sep 07, 2007

Recently my little sister told me that a 19 year old girl of Maple Ridge won $2,000,000 dollars in the local BC lottery; BC 49. I was amazed and disappointed because I did not win. Then again I also don’t play the lottery so how would I expect to win?

Danielle Clarke, 19, checked her ticket at a local Safeway gas bar (a Safeway I used to be employed at) and it came up as a winner with a total for 2 million. She purchased her ticket at a local Chevron gas station just up the street from the Safeway.

Imagine what must have gone through her head when it said she won $2,000,000? At her age she is one of BC’s youngest lottery winners. What would I do with $2,000,000? Who knows, a house, a new car, perhaps trips to exotic places. I would invest part of it, I would also probably give some to family and closest friends etc.

What would you do with $2,000,000 if you won it in the lottery?

  • I’d definitely pay off my debt and buy a home! And invest!!I haven’t thought any further, though. I don’t play the lotto. I just don’t have that kind of luck!

  • I used to play the BC Children’s Hospital lottery. Buying the 3 tickets for $250. But I haven’t had the money to be able to drop on tickets that I’ve never won on. People around me have won things from boats, to cars and they only buy 1 ticket. Me, I buy 3 and win nothing :) lol

  • If I were to win the lottery I would likely pay off my mortgage, share some money with family and close friends and invest the rest wisely to hopefully draw off the interest.

Of course that could all go out the window once I had the money in my hands but that is how I would plan it to happen.

  • I’d just keep my mortgage, but pay it off faster, and buy another house. The rest would just be invested for old age retirement so I can blow whatever I make today. Life’s too short to not go completely nuts :D

  • I definitely would get myself out of debt, my family out of debt :) Debt sucks!

  • It’s sad but in today’s world, 2 mil isn’t that much. I’d splurge a bit but only off the investment income of the jackpot. The principle would be untouched. Don’t a lot of lottery winners end up worst off in 5 years because of poor planning?
