Own Your Own Planet: Photoshop Style

Written By Tyler Ingram on Jan 22, 2007

This morning I was looking through the My Pictures folder on my computer here at work and came across something that I did with Photoshop and a little bit of time. It took roughly 10 minutes to complete and I think it looks cool.

It’s been a while since I did anything fun with Photoshop but I thought I would share this with some of you out there who like to messy around with the program.

Now I won’t repeat the instructions on how to create a magnificent looking planet (complete with atmosphere) like the one in the above picture, but I will link to the exact tutorial that I followed: Tutorial: Make A Planet

The only thing that I added to this plant was a ring. If enough people are curious how to make the ring for the planet I will create a mini-tutorial on making the ring and post it.

Photoshop is something I would love to learn more of. Currently my knowledge in Photoshop is for basic picture manipulation and correction. I use Photoshop to touch up light levels, sharpness, cloning etc with my digital photos but would love to learn more of the inner workings of Photoshop and Graphic Design with Photoshop and perhaps one day I’ll find a course or two that I like and would help me further my skills so that one day I can do full web design and development.

Will give it a try. I pretty much use Photoshop for the same stuff you do, just not with your skill level.

You have my skill, you did those twin photoshops didn’t you?

That’s awesome. Thanks for the link. :) As you might have seen from some of my blog posts, I use photoshop to…”enhance” the images according to the… “original vision” intended. ;)

Ah, yes. But that’s not the same as this. That’s just retouching.
