I was running a couple of errands after work downtown and had my camera with me so I thought I would try my hand at the waterfall at the corner of Thurlow and Melville. This time, with a proper camera, I did a 3-exposure HDR and it turned out not too bad. I had my polarizer on my lens which allowed for 2-stops less light. That allowed me to use a smaller aperture and longer shutter speeds. I did not have a tripod with me so I carefully propped my camera up on a nearby bench and leaned down on it to help reduce any shaky-hand issues I might have had.
While walking around the Burrard SkyTrain station area, I remembered that there is another little waterfall area behind the bus-stops on Dunsmir/Melville too.

This one was done the same way the first photo was done, a handheld, 3 exposure HDR. I could have done single longer exposures but I thought creating HDR ones would be a bit more interesting.
What do you think?
There are a few more urban-style waterfalls in the downtown area. I will one day, go looking for them and capture them. Perhaps I’ll even map them out so that other people can see where they are all located.

Nice shots bud! They don’t look like HDR’s. I prefer that kind of HDR personally.

Thanks! I try and go for the non HDR look but bring out more detail than normal without making it look too…cartoony etc
