Photos From The Past Couple Days

Writen By Tyler Ingram on Sep 15, 2009

Now I am trying to get photos up on my blog ever day, kind of like a photo recap or summary, though it seems I get a bit busy to do it on a constant basis. The past few days have been pretty busy and the next few days I am sure will be busy with our friend Kathleen visiting us from Ontario. So recently, what have I been up to? A little of this, a little of that. It’s interesting, even though I am currently unemployed, I can sure keep myself busy!

On Sunday, Robyn and I walked around the Stanley Park Seawall. Since the weather was overcast with no rain expected I thought it would be good to bring out the camera, then again I bring out my camera no matter where I go.

Woman in a wet suit

The Girl in Wetsuit. This bronze statue is similar to that of the Mermaid in Denmark. Many people actually assume it is a mermaid, but when you get up closer to it you can see the flippers, and diving mask. The tide was low so I went down to the water to get a different angle. I also tried to keep the Brockton Point lighthouse in the frame. Actually, Rebecca has some really good info on this statue!

Change of Season

While down along the water I noticed that the leaves of the near by trees were floating in the surf. It seems a bit early for the leaves to be changing colour and falling, but I guess Autumn is not in full gear yet. This also means that more and more business and websites will be holding fall-colour photography contests. Everyone loves fall colours right? Perhaps I can look at entering some, though when 10,000+ people enter a photography contest, I get very discouraged to enter.

Today, my little sister Katie was booked for her tattoo at Sacred Heart in Kitsilano and I went along. My older sister has been to this particular tattoo shop numerous times, for both tattoos and piercings. When I am ready for my tattoo, I am definitely going to book it with them!

Blossoms

Tattooing

Katie went with some cherry blossoms up the side of her torso. It was cool to see the whole process, though unfortunately due to a prior engagement I could not stay to watch it get completely filled in and finished. Katie also opted to get a “W” set in the main branch with a carved look in memory of Wicket, our dog of 16 years. Yes, Wicket was named after the Ewok in Starwars. I’m sure it wasn’t the most pleasant feeling being tattooed but at times Katie was fighting to stay awake! Steve, the tattoo artist, was awesome and did an excellent job! Katie said she was extremely happy about the final result, and I can’t wait to see it.

  • From this angle she really does NOT look like a mermaid and more like a the ‘wetsuit’ girl. I really like the faded out lighthouse in the background with that particular pic.

  • Woohoo! I got mentioned in your blog! Although, I have to make a tiny correction. I didn’t get any of my piercings at Sacred Heart. I got mine at the Underground. You went with me and my friend Shaila to watch Shaila get her nose pierced at Sacred Heart. But still, just a minor detail.

Too bad you didn’t get any pictures of Katie’s finished tattoo. I want to see what it looks like.

  • Each time I’ve been by the wetsuit girl she always had a bird sitting on her head.
