Robyn and I took a walk around the Stanley Park seawall, well parts of it anyway. As per usual, I did bring my lovely camera along for the ride.
The route for today’s little photowalk with Robyn is outlined in red and our starting point was from the West End and leading counter-clockwise.
Photo #1:
A commercial is being shot near Lost Lagoon in the West End and they have been using fake snow. It felt like wet paper that went through the wash cycle.
Photo #2:
We saw this Seagull poking at something down along the sand near the seawall. Robyn though it might have been a sunstar but I thought it was something else like an octopus. When I went down closer and turned it over, it indeed was a dead octopus. Never have seen one washed up on shore before.
Photo #3:
Siwash Rock. Tourists stand and read the plaque near the geological abnormality as the ocean water crashes against it.
Photo #4:
A forgotten starfish sand mold at Second Beach. Definitely a lot nicer than finding a crack pipe near our apartment of course.
Photo #5:
A river otter having a delicious piece of fish. A gentleman along the seawall stopped us and asked if saw the “Harbour Seal” on the rocks. I went down for a closer look to find this river otter snacking on a large piece of fish he must have recently caught. I wonder if this is the same river otter that I spotted near Lost Lagoon a few months ago?
What do you think about including the route of my photowalks? I thought some people might find it interesting where my feet might take me and as to where I spot the various things I photograph. Granted I am sure I could probably come up with a geocoding Google map, but since my Canon XSi does not do geocoding, I’ll have to do it the good ol’ manual way!

What do you use to record your routes? Jeffrey Friedl has developed a great plugin for Lightroom (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/gps) that will take a GPX (gps log file) and geo-encode your images right in LightRoom.
When I go on photowalks I use either Trails or Runkeeper on my iPhone to record my movements so I can feed them back into the plugin later on to geo-encode the images. No need to have a geo-encoding camera!

I don’t use anything to record my routes. I just happen to know where on a map I go and where I take photos. So I just traced the route out in photoshop
I’ll have to take a look at that plugin and Runkeeper as well for my iPhone. Thanks for the suggestions!

Can you describe a bit more about how you composed some of the shots?
