Photos From Today

Written By Tyler Ingram on Dec 23, 2009

Yes, it is another Photos From Today post that I do enjoy putting out there. What else is a guy to do while he’s unemployed? Yea, I’m sure some of you said, ‘Get a Job’ but that will come in the new year.

Today I thought I would venture into Stanley Park. Not the typical around the Seawall, or to Beaver Lake, but actually take some of the trails that meander through the large city park. I followed Tatlow Walk past the Seven Sisters towards Third Beach, then north along Rawlings to Prospect Point. Turned back down Rawlings to Bridle Path, ducked down Cathedral and back home. Pretty much my goal was to see wildlife that I normally don’t see, in particular the Barred Owls, but the only new critter I saw on this walk was a Sapsucker (woodpecker type birds).

Sap Sucker

Stanley Park's Aligator!

Proof that Stanley Park actually does have an alligator! If you ever walk through the Cathedral area, you will probably see this guy just hanging out.

More Hand Feeding

Hand Feeding

Someone left some seed near by so I put some in my hand and tried to capture the chickadee’s feeding off of it. I recently learned that Chickadees are huskers, they like to break open seeds like sunflowers. I have to remember to bring the seed I bought from Wild Birds Unlimited, as I picked up the variety that Chickadees love.

Thrush

I have seen more and more of these Thrushes out and about. Last time I was out there was one that was killed and crows were trying to take the body. Glad to see more alive ones though.

Got Seed?

Mine, You Can't Have It!

Ah yes, there are a few varieties of Squirrels throughout Stanley Park, though none of them have been quite friendly as the first photo. He was just snacking on the seed right next to me. I thought about petting him, but the thought of being bit by a squirrel stopped me.

So that’s about it. Don’t forget to check out my Flickr Photostream as it usually has more photos than I post here on my blog, including that new “Fires of Mount Doom” I took this morning up at the Cypress Mountain Lookout with John.

Beautiful! I love the little chickadee photos on your hand. I think I need to go on an alligator hunt next time I’m in the area.
