Photos From Yesterday
Well it seems the more I go out and take photos, the more I tend to post them here. Does that make this a photo blog? Or a blog that includes a bunch of photos within a post? I guess most Photo Blogs I have seen are 1 photo per post, but since I take lots of photos and I can never decide which one I like best, I tend to upload a few of them and share them here for everyone to see.
Yesterday as Robyn and Kathleen headed down into Oregon for a ladies trip I went out for a walk with my camera. Where did I go? Well started here in the West End, headed along the seawall towards Yaletown, cut over to Crosstown following Abbot Street, up Pender to Granville, ducked into Coal Harbour around the Seawall to Denman and then back home to the West End. Though if I remember correctly, according to Vancouver, we technically live in Stanley Park as we are West of Denman Street. West End, Stanley Park, both are beautiful places to live!
Anyway, to the photos!
Yup, those two photos are from Lost Lagoon. Always a nice little place for a walk and to watch the various wildlife that calls the lagoon home.
The above photos are from the Yaletown area of Vancouver; a paddler, yachts, the Olympic Village for the 2010 Winter Games and Science World (I will never call it the Telus World of Science).
The above window was from a building on Pender Street near Cambie. The wooden shutters caught my eye from across the street.
The new Woodward’s Building in Gastown. Robyn actually wrote an interesting post about Gentrification in the Downtown East Side (DTES).
So over all in about 3 hours I think I walked around the perimeter of Vancouver’s downtown core. Always a fun little adventure, especially when I take streets I have never been on before. There is a hostel on Pender that costs only $10/night for their Dorm! The guy outside our local 7-11 in the West End should look at that as he is always asking ofr change for his $15/night hostel fee. Weird how after 9 months he’s still staying at the hostels eh
My next walk? Not sure yet, but it looks like the weather is supposed to be good the entire week! Where would you suggest to go for a little photowalk?

Ohhh that’s the new Woodward’s Building. I was walking around there on Sun and was wondering what building that is.
Just be careful that you don’t walk out to my area. LOL… Those are amazing photos.
I also call it science world or the golf ball.
Tsk Tsk, paddler with no pfd.
@tawcan – I’ll see what the photo looks like in b&w, that one was pseudo HDR with a desaturation in photoshop.
@kimm – I see paddlers all the time without a PFD.
I love that I can read about tech, see your photos, and read more about you and Robyn all on the same website! I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you… it’s nice that they are all in one place.
Sorry I’ve been away for so long, I’ve been sick and am just trying to catch up on my Bloglines now… you sure have been busy with photos while I’ve been away!
I love the one of the wooden shutters. Great find.
And ugh, the new Woodward’s building. The red lattice is just an eyesore in my opinion. I have to see it every day on my way to work in Gastown
My mom will love these pictures, she loves birds ( and nature ). Looks like a really beautiful place you visited.
