Well from time to time I don’t give myself enough room to create a post on the photos I shot in a particular day, so I’ll do a post today for the photos I took yesterday.
Keith and I were out and about around Lost Lagoon snapping away at the various hummingbirds in the locations we know about in which they frequent. One spot is pretty good for photos of a Male Rufous Hummingbird. He flies from tree branch to tree branch in a triangular pattern and when he goes off to feed is usually back within a few minutes. He also loves to dive bomb if he thinks your a threat. He seems to always find me a threat as he buzzes past the back of my head multiple times when we’re hanging around.
After about a few hours of watching the little guy we headed over to the Rose garden in Stanley Park, the one that is near the Lions Gate Bridge causeway. While Keith was shooting the Anna’s Hummingbird (he’s too high up for me to take photos of) there was a couple getting their wedding photos done. I thought it would be fun to see what sort of photos I could take of the happy couple and they didn’t seem to mind having an extra photographer around.

The nice thing about seeing this couple and their photog crew helped give me more ideas for when I shoot photos for a friend of ours wedding in June. I’m a bit anxious about it, but the more photos I see and the more photos of people I can take from now until then, the better my confidence will be right?
We wandered back over to one of the little community gardens near Lost Lagoon and hung out for a couple of hours taking photos of the local hummingbirds there who come to feed. Keith said that as the sun goes down, the hummingbirds come more frequent to feed. Which is great because as the sun was going down, the golden light hit the spot these little guys come to.

Anyway that’s it for photos from yesterday. Today I won’t be taking any as I am getting all my gear ready for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival that starts on Friday. When you’re going to be away for multiple days, especially with photography gear, you have to ensure you’re well organized. I don’t want to have to forget anything when I’m up at Whistler!

Don’t think you need to worry Ty, based on those three photos of the wedding couple I would happily hire you as my wedding photographer! If I were planning a wedding anyway, heh.
