So what do I do when the weather here in Vancouver clears up and the rain stops? I grab my camera and head outside of course! I love photowalks, just wandering around the city with my camera in hand and take photos of whatever seems to fancy me at the time. Though one common occurrence while I am out and about is how many people seem to compliment me on my “big camera”. Or that I can zoom in really really far with my lens. The lens in question is my Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS, it is relatively large looking lens, white too so it stands out. Though 70-200mm is not the largest focal length, but I tend to use it on my photowalks the most.
So where did I go today on my photowalk? Where else? Lost Lagoon. I wanted to check out the blue-green algae that has been reported turning the water a funky colour. I remember seeing it start a few weeks ago near the stone bridge. Green algae was creeping up and the ducks had to swim in it.
I did bring along my Poor Man’s Macro Kit in hopes of getting some cool shots too.
I headed towards the garden next to Georgia Street in Stanley Park, it has a name though I cannot remember it.
Of course I take photos of the roses, though I am sure they were looking better before the two days of rain
So there you have it, my couple hour walk around Lost Lagoon and the nearby flower gardens of Stanley Park.
Do you find that it’s more fun to look at my photos here on my blog, or do you prefer to see them on Flickr? I personally like posting things here as you can easily see the larger version of each photo by clicking on them. I also like to post them here as I can write about them in a more detailed way too.

Wow, the closeup of the bee is just INSANE!
Strangely enough, I actually like the one below the bee one. The vibrant colours, the orange and the symmetry of the shot… very nice! I like how the one flower is ending in the top left corner, and in the bottom right corner is another flower beginning (if you know what I mean.. very confusing).
I actually like seeing your photos both on Flickr and on your blog. I like getting the “first” look on Flickr, and then reading the writeup later on your blog

Very cool, can’t say macro is my thing (yet?) but it’s always neat to see macro shots. I bet you can’t wait to receive your adapter.

@tawcan – It should make doing these sort of macro shots a bit easier. I’ve always enjoyed taking shots of small things, it will be great fun when I get an actual macro lens one day!
@vancityallie – I try to upload the photos near the time I write the blog posts about them. Though when I do upload a bunch at the same time, they usually don’t all get viewed until I put them into a blog post.

I love the colours in these picture. I will have to talk to you about using one or two of your pictures in my home.
