Seagate 8.0GB Pocket Drive

Writen By Tyler Ingram on Feb 18, 2007

If you remember back a few months ago I entered a contest for the chance to win some hardware made by Seagate: I need more storage so that… I didn’t win first prize or second but I did manage to come in a place where I would get a small pocket drive and it finally arrived!

Inside the small brown cardboard box was a Seagate 8.0GB Pocket Hard Drive.

With the ability to store up to about 133 hours of digital music, 2560 digital photos, 8 hours of digital video or thousands of other personal digital files, the Seagate Pocket Drive does it with plenty of storage space and all in a nice small compact design.. In its puck shaped form you might wonder where is the USB connection? Well that connection is well hidden and all it takes is to rotate the black area around and there is the USB cable neat tucked away inside!

Now for the images:

Anyone else hate these tamper-proof packages?

So as you can see from the lovely photos I’ve taken of the Seagate 8.0GB Pocket Drive, it is not that big in the way larger USB pocket drives go. It can easily fit into a pocket and you don’t need any extra cables. I’ve seen in the past 4GB USB drives, but this 8GB drive definately can come in handing when transfering large files between computers, and I am talking about things like ISOs, music collections etc.

If anyone is looking for a smaller sized, but decent portable storage device I would definately recommend this little USB 2.0 8.0GB Pocket Drive by Seagate.

I would like to thank Seagate for offering such cool prices as well as PodTech.net for allowing me to enter the contest!

  • Hey Tyler. Sweet prize. Been debating whether to get a jump drive or something a little bigger. Is this Seagate compatible with U3?

P.S. Do you have an RSS feed for your site?

  • Heya Brennan,

I haven’t pesonally head of U3 (though looking at their website they offer neat little apps with their products).

Seagate has been around for eons! Well maybe not that long but I’ve used some of their IDE harddrives in the past without any issues. This Seagate pocket drive does come with the data-encryption software (Windows Only) and a couple of other utilities.

As for an RSS feed, yup I do, on the top left of the site there is a link to Feedburner but if you want you can directly link to it http://www.tingram.ca/rss.xml

    Thanks again!

  • Nice score! I’ve got one of those. They come in really handy. But don’t play hockey with it. It is still a micro hard drive inside with tiny, tiny, platters. I know you’ve been tempted :P ;)

  • I was curious to take it apart and see what microdrive was inside. It is pretty nice, though I don’t know if I would ever use it really.

  • Nice! I need to get myself a bigger flash drive..mine is 128MB..although I don’t use it much.
