Snow Fall Hits Vancouver…Again
It seems during the night Vancouver got another dump of snow. Sure it isn’t the snow fall that Winnipeg receives but this is enough to cause havoc among the thousands of drivers who are not used to driving in the white stuff.
I woke up this morning to at least 3 inches of snow and was thinking, ‘Great the plows won’t be out’. There is a small hill outside my house, and I mean it’s not much of a hill but my car would barely grip to the road and I had to drive 5 km/hr to get up it. The rest of the trip was not bad everyone was good enough to go slow even the people with their 4×4 trucks (who the majority cannot drive 4×4) were going at a decent speed.
There have been a couple of school closures and I am sure a few more will follow as the day progresses. The snow is expected to stop before this afternoon and the weather should clear up to sky. Does everyone know what that means? That’s right, ICE! You think driving in Vancouver in the snow is bad, wait till you see people driving on the ice in Vancouver.
Come to think of it, before I got to Harris Road in Pitt Meadows I did see a car that decided to spin out of control and smack right into the median and then continue driving. I was going faster than this car was! I don’t know if the driver decided to just crank hard on the wheel to the left but the whole car decided to nonetheless and WHAM into the median it went. The odd thing was that he continued on, I guess with traffic behind him he wasn’t about to stop and get out. It’s going to be a bad day for that driver.
On a side note, the McDonalds I stopped off for a breakfast burrito didn’t give me any salsa to go with it. How dare they forget the salsa!

My Corolla At Work
As you can see from the above picture we’ve had a bit of snow since I got to work. It continues to snow and the snowplows are not expected to come out until later today which also means the roads will not be salted anytime soon either. The roadways are backup and has taken people at least twice if not four times as long to get to work than normal.
I guess this is what happens when the municipalities have already spent their snow removal budgets for this year.
