With the end of the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics there are still some smaller events happening around Whistler that people get excited about. Though, there is one large festival that gets put on every year that everyone gets really excited about; Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival.
The Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival (TWSSF or WSSF) is a 10 day long event held in Whistler Village that comprises of many events throughout its duration. Last year I attended as a photographer for the company that puts on the festival and also this year I will be attended as one of their photographers too.
Last year, Robyn and I stayed up at Whistler for 3 nights and took in as much as the events as we possibly could. We saw the various musical artists perform on the Outdoor Stage, we attended the Schick Fashion Exposed fashion show, checked out the various art displays at the State of Art exhibit and watched the Grenade Games Finale at night. I got photograph The Stills’ performance at Moe Joe’s the first night we got there too.
This year, since I have the time, I hope to attend the ENTIRE 10 day duration of the event. There are so many more things I would like to see and photograph that we were not able to last year. Such as the World Ski Invitational, Demo Park, Orage Masters and more.
Like last year, I plan on tweeting, blogging and sharing photographs as often as I can. The TWSSF is a great way to end the ski/snowboard season on Whistler and one of the phrases I have seen floating around lately to best describe this epic festival is: Party! Party! Party!
A small sample of photos I took during the TWSSF 2009, with more photography knowledge and better experience with my gear (and new gear) I expect to do a lot better in capturing what I see and experience.
