Since over the weekend my PageRank increased to 2 (yes I am proud of that) I decided to try applying over at Text-Link Ads for my second time. Their application is fairly straight-forward like most applications people will sign when submitting their website or weblog. They ask for the contact information, the URL of the site, Title for the site (mine is dynamic) and a description which I assume is for the advertisers to look over to see if their ads would be best suited for your site.
After successfully filling out all the information (again), I waited roughly 3 or 4 days for a response and this is what I got:
We are sorry but the inventory you have suggested http://www.tingram.ca/nav-left.php has been declined at this time. The main reasons inventory is declined is:
-The website does not have enough link popularity.
-The website does not have enough traffic.
-The website is currently selling text link ads.
Which seems to make sense right? My link popularity is not that high, which is shown in my PR rank of 2 and my Alexa rank of about 915,675 which is like really, really, really high, though I do remember that being 105,000 last week? My traffic is also not enough for them, my pageviews per day hover only around the 100-200 mark.
And I already sell text link ads. Now the only text link ads that I have on my site are Google’s AdSense and AdBrite, neither of which I am in control of. I just place them on my site and they do their own thing. I guess with AdBrite I do approve/disapprove ads, but my account has not had any ads waiting for my approval.
Now why am I trying to get Text-Link Ads on my site? Why not? I know I don’t bring in hordes of traffic nor do I have a large reader base but it fun trying to see what I can sign up for and what I cannot sign up for. Any money I can make is good right? It’s not costing me anything to sign up for them or display their ads so what am I to lose?
So this will be a constant adventure for me as I try and find the best type of ads to place on my site and an hopefully I can learn more about online marketing and advertising along the way.

My PR just jumped up to a 3 and I had contemplated reapplying for TLA but I think I will hold off for awhile to try and build more traffic first.

Did you submit http://www.tingram.ca/nav-left.php ?
That might be the problem… I think you should just submit the URL http://www.tingram.ca/
That might help…
I also decided to give TLA a try – I joined yesterday and was approved immediately, but I have a PR5 page so that might have been enough for them.

I was told to submit the site where the actual code would sit. nav-left.php is where the text-link ads code would be placed.
Anyone able to find their actual requirements?

Well, you use includes to “grab” the content from http://www.tingram.ca/nav-left.php , right?
So, even though the code is on nav-left.php the text links would appear on http://www.tingram.ca
I would try http://www.tingram.ca/ and see if they’ll accept that – but you might need some more PageRank…

That makes sense. nav-left, header and footer are required for index.php
So yea I guess to web browsers it is all the same.
