TNX.net: New Way To Monetize Your Website

Writen By Tyler Ingram on Jun 27, 2008

Ever hear the saying ‘Never put all your eggs in one basket’? Well the same goes for when you look at monetizing your website and combining different methods of generating revenue. The trick is finding the ones that will work for your website and help you create decent revenue. This brings us to a new service in text link advertising by the name of TNX.net.

TNX

TNX.net believes they are not like other text link advertisers and combine the benefits of contextual ads, text link brokers and relevant exchange of non-reciprocal text links into an easy-to-use system that allows you to quickly sell ad space across your entire site to a user base of roughly 62, 000 people. With over 11,500 links sold per hour on roughly 26 Million pages you might be able to see how this service can benefit you in quickly monetizing your website.

What is TNX.net?

TNX.net (currently in Beta) allows you to sell text links on individual pages on your website which I find to be interesting because on other services I have tried out you sell links that don’t change from page to page. TNX.net allows advertisers to fine-tune their links for particular pages, such as pages which might rank higher than others for competitive keywords. Don’t worry though, the higher a PR (page rank) a page has the more points you can earn.

Do I qualify for this service?

The requirements for a website are pretty straightforward when requesting to have your site added and are as follows:

  • Monthly Visitors – Currently there are no restrictions!
  • PR – Page rank is preferable to be at least 1
  • Domain – Second level domains that have been hosted for over 6 months
  • Search Engines – You need to be indexed with search engines (who aren’t these days?)
  • Number of Pages – at least 30
  • PHP – Scripting language of the code that you include into your site

You mentioned points not money!

Yes I did mention you earn points initially. TNX.net works on a point generation system. You earn points on a monthly basis when advertisers purchase link space on your site. Don’t worry though, you can use your points in two ways; purchase ad space on other websites or sell them back to TNX.net for cash. I find that you need at least 5000 points before you are able to sell them back to TNX.net for money, and 5000 points is currently worth about $5.

How does it work?

Well I have been using TNX.net for a little bit now and I am coming to a better understanding on how their service works. When you initially add your website after you have installed a piece of code (for my site it is next to the Sponsors header on my sidebar) you will need to wait over a period of 72 hours while they send out spiders to crawl your entire site to index your individual pages (posts, pages, etc) for which advertisers will be able to view and purchase ad space on. I have also found that if you have a higher PR with the search engines (Google in particular) your points per month rating will be higher, whereas I’ve been having issues with Google my PR of 3 is now PR of 0 across the board. So if you have a higher PR then you will earn more points per month.

With the above screenshot (might be hard to read) what it shows is an example of the pages that are index on my blog, the links sold on it, the PR of the page and the points per month being generated. As a website publisher you can delete the links, remove the pages from their index or even block the advertiser if you are having issues with their ads.

Use of Points

Sell links on every page of your site to thousands of advertisers!

You can request a payout which means are can sell your points back to TNX.net or you can transfer your points to another user (there could be a benefit in doing so). They do limit your daily transfer limit to 500,000 points which is roughly worth $430 or you can opt to sell them back at the rate of $0.86 per 1000 points earned at a minimum of 5000 points or $5 worth.

Now if you want to do advertising you can use the points you earn from the ads on your site to place ads on other sites by creating campaigns. If you do not have any points or wish to increase your points so you can place more ads you can buy points from TNX.net at roughly $0.87-1.74 per 1000 points the range depends on the quantity of points you are willing to purchase they also offer discounts on volume purchasing of points.

Final Thoughts

I mentioned that I’ve been using TNX.net for a little while now and roughly have earned over 3000 points (not quite $5) with the various text ads that have been purchased on my various pages. I find that if I were to have a higher PR I would generate more points per month which means more money in the end. I have not yet tried the advertising purchasing portion of the website extensively but it could be handy in helping you increase the backlinks to your website to help increase your PR. Whether or not you see value in that would be up to you.

TNX.net is in the beta stage and they are adding new features and listening to their clients on their forums for feedback on how they can improve.

I do like the concept that they have in place where you can generate points and use them as you see fit, or even sell them back to TNX.net for cash (via paypal). If you are not happy with their service and you are confused on how their service works they do offer a money back guarantee which I find is a nice thing to offer and shows that they believe in their service.

If you want an extra way of generating more revenue you can also become an affiliate and refer people to them.

If you are looking for a service that shows you results within 72 hours then I would recommend checking out TNX.net and setup an account with them. What other service allows you to sell individual pages for text link ads without much work on your part?

They are also have a special offer; if you sign up you can receive 5000 points for free!

  • ‘Never put all your eggs in one basket’
I agree with that. What if I just got one egg or half egg [less that $100 Google Adsense revenue per month]?
I don’t think that really matter.

  • It might not matter then but if you’re not making that much in a month perhaps that particular service isn’t meant for you. Most of the Ad services are based on like a traffic ratio; The more traffic you receive the higher probability of people clicking on the ads. TNX isn’t really a cost-per-click system. Advertisers buy space and you get paid (eventually). So combining a system like TNX with AdSense or Kontera would help increase your revenue generating ability. Or so I would like to think it would.

  • TNX.net is an excellent program. Another similar program worth considering is Etology. I’ve been using this service for a few months now and so far I’m quite happy with the results. I haven’t had a chance to advertise with this system yet, but as a publisher I love the freedom to sell ad space based on my own prices. Check out this review that I wrote a few weeks ago and let me know what you think.
