Vancouver Is Sunny Again
Even though the past few days have been pretty good weather wise, how long is this going to last? I read that we’ve had more than the normal average of rain fall in the past month than in previous years and because of the amount of rain we’ve received and that we’re expected to get we Vancouverites will be only seeing roughly 50 hours of sun per week!
Since the weather was good yesterday I wanted to go downtown and take pictures of Vancouver and Stanley Park and luckily one of my buddies wanted to do the same but have me take pictures of his car. So I suggested we take his car down and we would get both of them done!

Don’t you just love the Vancouver’s city skyline? The only photoshopping I did to the image was to bring out the colours in the sky. Yes that is a Dodge Neon but you’d be surprised what my buddy has under the hood of that car, the car just rips down the street with crazy power.
We drove around Stanley Park and took numerous shots with and without the car in the frame. Vancouver definitely has a ton of places to take photos that show of its beauty (the city not the car).
We headed over to Prospect Point which is at the northern tip of Stanley Park and overlooks North Vancouver. The sun was going down and I managed to take a really beautiful shot between the trees with a freighter coming in to port.
Next was the drive on the western side of Stanley Park. The destruction of severe weather has done to the park is massive. There were uprooted trees everywhere! There was one tree where the base of it (roots up) was at least 20 feet in diameter, the thing was just massive!
When pulled into the parking lot of the Rose Garden Tea Room and took more shots of the car and surrounded area. The above image can show you the freighters that were sitting waiting to load up on cargo and head back out to sea.
Since my buddy was running out of gas (he uses 94octane and was running on fumes) we had to quickly find a gas station, but that took us past one of the more popular spots in the Vancouver downtown area; English Bay. This is the place where hundreds of thousands crowed a few days in the summer per year to watch the stunning and spectacular display of choreographed Fireworks during the HSBC Celebration of Light event.

I love the vertical shot through the trees of English Harbour. You gat some good skillz. However some of the other shots suffer from a little overexposure. You might want to add a circular polarizer to you arsenal. It will help with reflections and will act similar to a ND(darkening) filter. You might also want to use the Exposure Bracketing feature on the XT. Other than that I like your photos.
Brennan the Vyper
Hey Thanks Brennan for the feedback. I do have a polarizer but I don’t think it will this this camera. I had one for my Canon A60 and the size is a bit smaller than the EF lens.
I’ll have to check out more on the exposure Bracketing features. I’ve played a little bit with it when I was trying to fiddle with HDR images.
One of these days you’ll have to take me out and give me some more pointers.
