WestEnd Rainbow

WestEnd Rainbow

When I got back home from meeting Keith, I decided that it was a good time to open up the curtains in our living room. Typically, I keep the curtains closed as any of the incoming light makes it hard to see my screens without having to squint (which results in headaches). Upon opening the currents I was presented with a rainbow! I don’t think I have seen a rainbow west of our apartment, so I quickly changed lenses on my camera and attached my circular polarizer filter. I darkened the photo up a bit to help bring out the rainbow a tad, I also tried to play around with lens correction, since using a wide-angle lens can make for some crazy building distortions.

BCIT Week 1

On a side note, my first (full) week at BCIT has passed and I quite enjoyed it. It’s a bit different from working or being laid-off etc, but I seem to manage. This week, I have read up on various Economic types in the world, got to write a Memo for an upcoming Security Protocol for a company [fictitious], drew a snowman using Java, wrote summaries of 10 Internet Technologies (TCP/IP, XHTML, XML, Silverlight, PHP and others which I have known about for many years) and have a better understanding of Boolean Algebra (who know 1′s and 0′s could be so difficult to understand?).

We’re constantly reminded how much harder things will be getting soon and how much more work we’ll be receiving. Time Management is one thing I am going to have to work at; prioritizing assignments and ensuring I keep reading up before lectures. Cannot fall behind!

Overall, I still enjoy going to school (even if it means taking Transit) and I look forward to things picking up.

wow the rainbow almost look unreal, that’s amazing.

Wow, that’s some nice looking rainbow. I actually took some pics weeks ago in NYC with something similar, but my camera cannot do such “tricks” (won’t admit I am a bad photographer).

Best of luck with the job. I also find it’s hard to prioritize my tasks, since I am involved in 100 different things, but my small agenda has proved invaluable so far.

Gorgeous photo of a rainbow… they never turn out in my photos. This one looks so vibrant where mine always look so pale.

  • @Allie – If you use a polarizer, you can bring out the rainbow a bit more. Without one, they do come out pretty pale. :)

Polarizer? Thanks Tyler. I’ve always wondered how other photographers specially those in Stock Photo sites take good photos of rainbows.
