What Happens When You Run Out Of Things To Say

Written By Tyler Ingram on Feb 11, 2008
Are You Lost For Words?

Do you ever have a mental block when you are unable to come up with something to write about on your blog?

Do you ever think of something to write about and then realize you have no idea where you’re going with it?

I know I do, in fact it happens quite a bit and it can be frustrating to think of ideas that some people might find interesting to read about. Some people suggest that if you run out of ideas that you should look to your RSS feeds to see what other people are talking about. Perhaps read the news and see what you can comment on in today’s society.

If I had a niche ideas would be a bit easier to come by. I would also need to stop procrastinating and set some time aside to writing up blog posts. I can schedule my posts now so I could just leave them in ‘draft’ mode until I was ready to release it to the masses.

Why do I blog if I have nothing to write about?

Why not? I enjoy blogging (if you call what I do blogging) and I think it has also slowly helped me on my writing as well (or is that typing?). I do enjoy more of the programming in creating new features too, which is something that the majority of bloggers don’t do. Sure you add plugins or widgets to your blog, but you don’t write the code for them right?

So what do I do when I am lost for words? I write posts like this that seem to be more of me thinking out loud than really anything important. I did want to try and increase my post frequency for the month of February and I was, at the beginning of the month, doing pretty well.

Those are the times I work on making a theme or exploring how to better use a social service etc. It usually isn’t long before an idea strikes me.
