What, No Olympic Flame?
February 12th 2011 marked the 1 year anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Various locations around the downtown area were slotted to have various events. The one thing I was looking forward to seeing was the Olympic Cauldron lit again. When Robyn and I wandered our way towards the Cauldron we were disappointed to see the following.

The cauldron was not lit on the following Sunday. Why not keep it lit for the whole weekend? Saturday was a raining, miserable day and Sunday was nice a sunny. I’m sure other people were disappointed to see it unlit on Sunday, including the various tourists we saw wandering around taking photos.
A comment on Miss604.com mentioned that for the small price of $10,000 you could have the cauldron lit for a 24-hour period. Wonder how much natural-gas that thing consumes over a period of 24-hours? $85.5 Million to keep it lit all year round, yea that would be an excellent way to spend tax-payers money right?
