WSSF 2010: Day 7

Written By Tyler Ingram on Apr 23, 2010

Alright so I had a fun time dealing with Pacific Coach Line, the bus service that is supposed to have an express service to Whistler. I purchased a ticket for an 8:00 AM departure from the Westin Bay Shore hotel in the downtown Vancouver area. The ticket mentioned to get 15 minutes prior to the departure, so I had Robyn drop me off at about 7:30AM on her way to work. I waited until 8:15AM and there was no bus. I looked over the ticket and there was a note saying that Vancouver transfers pick-ups would be 40 minutes after departure time. What the?? So I waited and waited, but 9:00AM rolled around and no bus. Did I mention it was pretty cold outside still?

I gave PCL a quick call and at first they couldn’t find my reservation for the bus, but then I mentioned when I was to be picked up so they called the bus driver for me. He was a few minutes away. 10 minutes later PCL called me saying the bus driver hasn’t seen me yet, but at that time the bus pulled into the drop-off loop at the Westin. The lady on the phone said I wasn’t supposed to be picked up until 8:40AM, but my ticket did say 8:00AM.

Why not have my ticket say 8:40 departure time and be there at 8:30, not a departure time of 8:00 and to get there at 7:45? Crazy! Oh well, I got on the bus at about 9:10 and I arrived in whistler near 11:00.

Oh well, on to what I checked out at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. I wasn’t feeling the Grenade Games 6 Mogul event, but did check out the outdoor concerts at Skier’s Plaza, mainly Classified.

A big crowd turned out for Classified and that’s always a great thing to see.

The crowd was definitely enjoying Classified up on stage, so much that you could see the cloud form above them!

Public Drinking

Perhaps the crowd was enjoying the performance a bit too much? How often do you see an entire bottle of Smirnoff in the crowd?

Crowd!

Kids n Coke

Yes, even small children were enjoying the concert, granted I hope they didn’t hear the lyrics. Not exactly children friendly, but the crowd was great and everyone seemed to have a good time.

We also checked out the Olympus Pro Photography Showdown, though I have not uploaded photos of that (yet). Perhaps later before the Schick Fashion Expose event tonight I’ll upload some of the photos I took during that.

Tomorrow will be a fairly relaxing day, outdoor concerts and then the Grenade Games VI Finale at Skier’s Plaza in the evening. Let’s hope the weather is good for that, I’ve heard rumours there is supposed to be up to 20cm of new snow falling by tomorrow (on the mountain)!
